Cover Caption This Week's Cover: When it comes to weather, the experts should be regarded with suspicion. They are usually right, but anyone using a weather forecast has to be able to tell portents from the promises. One of the most bewildering tricks of the trade is the strategic use of cliché "isolated showers." It has probably been coined purely to give the forecasters a come-back. Ralph Bruce's cover family thought it was a good omen; they packed a hamper and got the car out. Now they're in the middle of an isolated shower – and in weather jargon isolated can mean "all the way to the coast." The experts, of course, will say "We told you so."
