Cover Caption This Week's Cover: At the theatre, the poignant little curtain-raiser in the foyer often has more drama then the play on-stage. It opens with a crowded scene and a confident hero, drags on through a lonely, despairing vigil, and ends with the flamboyant entry of the heroine wearing a disarming smile and a prettiness that defies reproach. Women being women, the situation is inevitable. And the harassed hero has to admire that intuitive talent for being just late enough to make an effect, just in time to collect a be-ribboned box of chocolates and avoid stormy indignation. "There's no answer," says Zelinski. "Except plays that don't start until the second act."
